THE ROSEMAR COLLECTION

Stays by the water that feel like home

Our Story | The Rosemar Collection

We never really set out to create a collection of holiday homes...

It all happened quite naturally, beginning with one place we fell for and then, a few years later, another.
They are very different homes in very different places, but both were chosen for the same reason: they felt somewhere we wanted to be.

La Maison Rose, Brittany 🇫🇷

In 2012, we had to attend a meeting in France. With a few hours to spare before the ferry home, we decided to explore the villages along the River Rance and came across Lyvet.

"It was one of those places that stays with you!"

On our next trip, we went back together, walked around the port and found this house for sale. It had been empty for nearly ten years, was overgrown, a little forgotten but full of character.

The house had belonged to Madame Rose, a much-loved figure in the village who had lived there all her life. During the war, she survived the bombing of the house while asleep inside , the nearby bridge had been the intended target. The house was rebuilt afterwards and remained largely untouched until we bought it.

We were encouraged to name the house and calling it La Maison Rose felt like the only fitting tribute.

We stripped it right back to four walls and started again, creating a holiday home in Brittany that still feels true to its history. Even now, it always feels warm and familiar when we return.

There’s something very special about life here, early morning walks or jogs along the river, neighbours stopping for a chat and the quiet beauty of the Rance as the sun comes up. It never feels rushed and that sense of calm is something guests often mention too.

We've included a few photos from when we first bought the properties. They were full of character, but they needed a lot of love — and quite a lot of work too!

Villa Marejadilla, Tenerife 🇪🇸

A few years later, after retiring early, we found ourselves spending more and more time away from Jersey during the winter months. It made sense to find somewhere of our own, somewhere warm, easy to reach and somewhere we could truly settle into.

That search brought us to Tenerife.

We wanted to avoid the busier tourist areas, so we began looking around Alcalá before widening the search to Playa San Juan.

There was very little that felt right until an agent mentioned a villa that we might be able to see.We loved it straight away, not for what it was then, but for what we knew it could become.

The first eighteen months were spent getting plans and permissions approved, especially for the rooftop terrace. That one change made all the difference, opening up wonderful 360° views of the sea and mountains.

What we love most is the light, the high ceilings, the curved walls and the constant connection to the outdoors. You can hear the sea, watch the swallows overhead, and enjoy the quietness of the area while still being just a short walk from the village and its excellent restaurants.

Playa San Juan has remained wonderfully authentic, with a slower pace and far fewer of the problems that come with the more tourist-heavy parts of the island. It feels peaceful, lived-in, and easy to return to.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story. We hope that when you stay, you’ll feel a little of what made us fall in love with these places in the first place.

Warm wishes,
Peter & Sarah
